Hello Stranger by Katherine Center
“Light matters just as much as darkness. Play matters as much as work, and kindness matters as much as cruelty, and hope matters as much as despair. More so, even. Because tragedy is a given, but joy is a choice.”
Sadie Montgomery, portrait artist, has just placed as a finalist in a prestigious portrait competition when she learns she needs surgery. With just six weeks before the portrait deadline, she knows she will need to work quickly after she leaves the hospital. Instead, she wakes up in the hospital to discover she has “probably temporary” face blindness…not a good thing for a portrait artist!
Sadie’s friend tries to help her develop new techniques for painting but all fail miserably. Then her beloved dog, Peanut, gets sick and Sadie meets his new vet. Sparks fly and even though Sadie cannot see the new vet, she just knows he is attractive. Sadie’s neighbor, Joe, also becomes an unexpected friend and she just may be developing some feelings for him. What’s a person to do with the biggest career challenge of their life, two potential love interests, and a world out of focus?
I love Katherine Center’s books and this one did not disappoint! Her author’s note at the end was also worth the read. I loved what she said about the romance genre.
If you enjoy a good romance, I highly recommend this book!
