Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto
Looking for a genre-hopping chaotic ride? This is a fun, laugh-out-loud read! I went into it expecting a comedic cozy, got a lot more than I bargained for, but enjoyed the experience!
The characters were absolutely my favorite part of this story! Meddelin Chan is the daughter of Chinese-Indonesian immigrants. Her mother, along with her three aunties, are her support system and their dynamic was laugh out loud perfection! Meddy, her mother and aunties own a wedding business, but she feels trapped. She gave up her college love in order to remain in California with her mother and has yet to find love again.
Enter her well-meaning, but meddling mother who signed Meddy up for a dating app without telling her. After a blind-dating app date ends horribly (accidental murder!), her mother and aunties are enlisted to help her take care of the body. Unfortunately, they have a huge wedding the next day and thus, absolute chaos ensues!
Remove any notion of realistic plot from your thinking and pick this book up for the sheer fun that it brings! It’s a crazy romp of a story, but the characters are divine!
