This book grabbed me from the beginning. It is a story of strong women in 1926 who believe in equality, justice and forbidden love.

Lily Ross was a rare thing, a sheriff in a small Ohio town in 1926. She struggles along with some of the other woman in the town with what is expected of women from man and from the other women in Kinship.

Then… an elderly woman falls from a train tunnel in a remote area of Sheriff Ross’s county. Was it a murder or did the woman wander away from the asylum that seems to be hidden away from society.

Lily along with her friends Hildy and Marvena unravel the mysterious death and exposes long hidden secrets.
