First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston

“Do whatever you must to save yourself and the job.”

Evie Porter doesn’t really exist. First, she receives her identity. Then, she gets her location and learns everything she can. After that, she learns her mark. This time, it’s Ryan Sumner. The last piece is the job…she still doesn’t know that part of this project. She just knows she is starting to get attached to Ryan in a way she has never connected with a mark and a future away from this secretive life is becoming real.

One thing Evie has always protected is her real identity. Then someone with her identity walks into town and she must try to stay one step ahead of her unknown boss, Mr. Smith, in order to survive.

I am a huge suspense fan, but the con-artist sub-genre is not usually my favorite. This book was a huge win though and kept me guessing every step of the way! I was rooting for Evie while I was never quite sure how much I learned through her perspective was true and how much was part of a con. If you enjoy fast-paced suspense, I highly recommend this book!
