Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney
“The world is full of people who are good at being bad, and people who are bad at being good.”
Two Mother’s Days, twenty years apart. In the first, a baby is snatched from her buggy at a grocery store, never to be seen again. In the second, Edith, a woman in a care home she calls “God’s waiting room,” goes missing. Then a body is discovered and DCI Chapman has three suspects: Frankie, Clio, and Patience.
Clio is Edith’s daughter, a therapist, who tricked her into signing the papers to sell her house and move into the care home.
Patience works at the care home and befriended Edith when they met on both of their first days at the home.
Frankie is a prison librarian who finds comfort in numbers and considers herself a “good bad girl.”
As the story progresses, we learn more and more about the characters and how they may be linked. Who committed the murder? What happened at the first Mother’s Day and how is it related to this Mother’s Day?
This is my third book by Alice Feeney and it was not as dark as the others I have read. For me, the characters were the strongest part of this story as more about them were revealed with each passing chapter. If you enjoy mysteries, I highly recommend Alice Feeney’s latest book!
