Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano
“My relationship with Panera was complicated. I liked their soup. Panera didn’t like that I’d poured it over another customer’s head. In my defense, Theresa had started it when she’d attempted to justify her reasons for sleeping with my husband.”
Finlay Donovan is a stressed single mom and low-budget author not making ends meet. Her ex-husband is threatening a custody battle and she knows her odds aren’t good…especially when she can’t even afford to keep her lights on without his help. At a meeting in Panera with her agent, their conversation is overheard and completely misunderstood. Finlay is floored when she is offered a lot of money for her services by a woman who was sitting next to them. What services? Killing the woman’s husband, of course! Somehow, Finlay inadvertently accepts the woman’s offer and a wild ride ensues!
This book was a hilarious, modern cozy and I was completely invested in Finlay’s wild story. Her live-in nanny/accountant, her police officer sister, and bartender Julian all made this story really shine.
I am late to the Finlay Donovan game (this first one in the series came out in 2021), but I count it as a win because I have more to binge read now!
