Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn
Georgie Mulcahy has been living in L.A. where she has been a personal assistant to Nadia, a film producer and director. Nadia abruptly decided to retire, leaving Georgie homeless (she lived on Nadia’s property) and jobless. Georgie decides to spend time in her hometown in Virginia. Her parents are traveling the country in their RV and Georgie’s best friend, Bel, has recently moved back to their hometown with her husband. Bel and Harry are expecting and Georgie figures she will be in town to help Bel get ready for the new baby.
Georgie’s first night in her childhood home does NOT go according to plan because Levi Fanning, brother to Georgie’s high school crush and a former troublemaker, arrives to spend the night with rescue dog, Hank, in tow. Georgie’s less-than-organized parents promised Levi he could stay in their home for a couple of weeks while his home is undergoing major renovations. Georgie, Levi, and Hank navigate the strange rooming situation, while Georgie tries to figure out the next step for her life. Both Georgie and Levi have pasts to sort out before they are ready for a future…will it be together?
I love the cast of characters in this book! Georgie lives moment to moment and is a bit of a mess, but in a completely endearing way. Levi is so very grumpy on the outside, but his love for his rescue dog, Hank, makes it clear he’s a marshmallow deep inside. Bel and Georgie’s friendship is real and deep and Georgie’s parents are the sweetest hippies who will support her through everything. The chapters alternate between Georgie and Levi and I loved both perspectives equally. This was such a sweet story!
If you enjoy romance/contemporary fiction, I recommend checking out Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn!
