The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
Olive Smith, third-year PhD candidate, does not believe she is capable of romantic love, so it is shocking and awkward when her best friend finds her kissing scientist and professor, Adam Carlsen, in the lab one evening. What Anh, Olive’s best friend, does not know is the kiss was completely a bluff for Anh’s benefit. Olive is shocked when Dr. Carlsen agrees to fake date her. This launches a sweet, nerdy and delightful reading experience (with some uncomfortable and steamy moments!).
I am a sucker for a good fake dating romance and this science/academia/lab setting was perfect! I loved Olive in all her pumpkin spice loving glory. She was not afraid to poke fun at stuffy Dr. Carlsen and I loved her for it. I thought the chemistry was bubbling over and Olive’s best friend and her roommate made fantastic secondary characters.
If you’re looking for a romance with a bit of a different setting, this one will not disappoint!
