Leave Only Footprints by Conor Knighton
“The Mountains Are Calling and I must Go.” ~ John Muir
Are you ready for a road trip? A perfect book for armchair travel is “Leave Only Footprints.” Go with Conor Knighton as he journeys through every National Park; exploring Acadia to Zion. This book caught my eye as my family has been fortunate to travel to 21 National Parks over the past few years; while Conor’s adventure took him to 59 National Parks in the course of one year! Each chapter is a survey tour of two or three parks on Conor’s quest. I found myself reliving memories of places my family visited and taking notes of places that I still want to explore.
Not only does “Leave Only Footprints” showcase beautiful places that we all share as Americans; but also the people we meet along the way. Conor
says: “One of my favorite parts of traveling is how my trips have challenged me to rethink preconceived notions about other places & people.” I would agree and add that a good book does also.
