Chelsea Weibley at the Library
Have you ever read a book you think about YEARS after reading? We are all readers here, so I am guessing you have. Defending Jacob by William Landay is one of those books for me and now that it is on Apple TV it is getting renewed buzz. It released eight years ago, but there are times I hear or see something and I am transported back to this book. I loved it…if you haven’t read it and like legal thrillers, you should read it too!
Andy Barbers is an Assistant District Attorney in a suburb of Boston. A boy from Andy’s son’s, Jacob’s, school is found dead and the investigators are having trouble determining who killed him. That is, until they find a piece of evidence that links Jacob to the crime. Andy and his wife, Laurie, are convinced Jacob is innocent and set out to do everything they can to prove it.
Law and Order and other courtroom dramas have always fascinated me. Defending Jacob includes courtroom transcript mixed into the story being told from the first person by Andy. The author did a great job of weaving the transcript through the story.
I don’t want to say much more about it because the less you know about a thriller, the better!
